…running on the wheel of death listening only to the sound of my retracting lungs.

After a full day of travel yesterday, I got back home  around 6p.m. and decided to run to the gym for a quick workout before it closed at 7.  By the time I drove there and changed I had just enough time for three miles on the treadmill.
Before, I would have skipped the gym because I wouldn’t have enough time there.  But I hightailed it there and eeked out what mileage I could: Proof #1 that my behavior is changing.  A half an hour is worth something I suppose.

Also once I was there and firmly planted on the treadmill I realized my Ipod was DEAD, but I persevered.  This is proof #2 that I am changing. I mean running indoors is bad enough, let along running on the wheel of death listening only to the sound of my retracting lungs.  (3 mi @ 26:30)

My recap in food over my three-day mini vacay:

Friday: Fresh melon, pineapple and coffee with skim for breakfast, a 4-inch wheat roll with chicken, lettuce, tomato and mustard and a side salad with balsamic for lunch, sushi (8 peices), steamed veggies and a fortune cookie for dinner.

Saturday: Multigrain cheerios with skim and coffee for breakfast, 8 inch turkey and cheese sandwich for lunch (took off the bacon,) 2 peices breaded chicken cutlet, corn and a small helping of mashed potato for dinner.  (Also: 2 scoops of light mint ice cream for dessert.)

Sunday: Multigrain cheerios and coffee with skim, salad and bowl of lobster chowder for lunch, homemade pizza for dinner and too much ice cream for dessert.

Yummy and filling lunch.  Protein and fiber packed too!

Breakfast:

  • 1/2c Rolled oats - (I was running out the door this morning and didn’t have time to make eggs, but luckily I grabbed some oatmeal on the way out the door..because when I got to work there was a whole table of delicious bagels in the kitchen.  But I resisted!)
  • coffee with skim

Lunch:

  • Spinach salad w/ brown rice, kidney beans, edamame, salsa, and a dollop of both sour cream and guacamole
  • 1c diced mango (frozen and organic)

Snack:

  • Pear
  • two clementines

Tragedy

So I went I went to grab the scale in the bathroom for WIW this morning, I realized the scale was MIA!  It was’nt behind the sink as it normally is and after a quick scan around the bathroom it wasn’t anywhere to be found!

It’s my roommate’s scale, so I’m not sure what she would have done with it.  She was still sleeping so I suppose my weigh in will have to wait until tonight/tomorrow.

LAME.

However, I’m wearing a pair of skinny jeans that are normally tight.  But today they fit comfortably and…..guess what?  No muffin top!  Win.

Day 3 - Wed., Jan. 27

  • 70 cal, no-sugar-added cozy shack pudding

And no gym for me.  Today was my day off.  Sometimes days like this are a struggle, because as you can see I didn’t eat that well, but outings like this are a part of life.  I just need to remember to make the best decisions I can and keep on going!
